Bestselling author Dennis Lehane will headline the Manchester City Library Foundation’s Gala Fundraiser at 7:30pm, Tues., Sept. 23, at The Palace Theatre, 80 Hanover St., as part of the Carpenter Memorial Library’s 100th Birthday Celebration.
Lehane is the bestselling author of Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, and Shutter Island, which have been adapted into award-winning films; and Creative Consultant for HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. A film adapted from Lehane’s most recent novel, The Drop, featuring James Gandolfini in the last role of his career, opens September 19.
“We are excited to welcome Dennis to this year’s Gala Fundraiser and 100th Birthday Celebration”, stated Denise Van Zanten, Library Director for the Manchester City Library. “The Library Foundation provides necessary financial support to the Manchester City Library, and over the past several years has supported the funding for items such as: downloadable eBooks and audiobooks, an AC unit, LCD computer monitors, a projector and screen for the auditorium, and many other important items. Events such as the upcoming Gala Fundraiser are crucial to support our ongoing financial contributions to the public library and local community”.
