Families in Transition

Families in Transition provides “safe, affordable housing and comprehensive social services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect.”

How you can help:

  • Help out in our preschool or after-school programming at the Family Place, our new therapeutic center for FIT youth participants.
  • Organize a food drive for our emergency food pantry or collect clothes to donate to OutFITters Thrift Store.
  • Provide clerical support in one of our offices by answering phones, entering data, and filing.
  • Help our maintenance department with landscaping, painting, and repairing our properties.
  • Sort and organize donations at one of our OutFITters Thrift Stores, located in Manchester and Concord.
  • Sponsor a social event—a board game night, dinner, or ice cream social–for our FIT families to attend.
  • Offer a one-time or recurring life skills workshop for our participants. Past topics have included budgeting, crafts, yoga, aromatherapy, etc.
  • Become a member of our board of directors or sit on one of our many committees. Areas include development, marketing, economic development, and programs & supportive services.
  • Intern in our clinical or youth departments. Applications are always being accepted, and can be obtained by e-mailing volunteer@fitnh.org.
  • Participate in a FIT fundraising event.
  • Other opportunities as determined by your interests.
